A meeting in Brussels at which EU ambassadors were due to be briefed by the bloc’s chief negotiator Michel Barnier on progress in the Brexit talks has been postponed, according to two EU officials.

The Coreper Article 50 meeting had been due to go ahead at 2 p.m., but it has now been pushed back to 5 p.m. while talks continue.

The two sides appear to be close to a deal, although Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar hinted earlier today that a further EU leaders’ summit may be required later this month to reach an agreement.
